Merry Christmas!

“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas, everyone!
Steersons (the Steakhouse formerly known as Kingsley)
December 23, 2008
So after the exhausting day of shopping, and to celebrate a happy event, Thad and I decided to reward ourselves with a GOOD meal. No more homecooked food (not to say that it’s not good, but sometimes we have to be realistic about the repertoire), no more leftovers from yesterday, no more ordering in of pizzas.
A GOOD. MEAL.
And that usually means a good steakhouse (at least for Thad!). So as mentioned earlier, Kingsley at Woolloomooloo was booked out, but I knew there were a couple more in the city so I said let’s give them a go. We might have a chance, since 80,000 people were camped out in the Domain.
The only address I could remember was the one on Bridge Street. Unfortunately, we weren’t sure whether it was to the right or left of the road, and took a guess and turned right, walking for an additional 15 minutes. It later turned out that it was one door to the left. Gah!! Very Amazing Race.

Through the Roof!

The gigantic Christmas Tree in the middle of QVB, adorned with 15,000 Swarovski crystals. (Won’t anyone steal them??)
Literally pushing the tree through the roof!
Woolworths Carols in the Domain
December 22, 2008
Thad FINALLY had a Saturday off so we made sure to do the most that we can on our very last weekend in Sydney before going home for the holidays! Woo!
After a stuffed brunch at Cafe XXII, we headed into the city for a massive day of shopping. The crowds were insane! You wouldn’t think there was a recession going on, looking at the way people were swiping their cards…
One of the highlights of the day was the Woolworths Carol in the Domain! Apparently it’s a huge family event, with lots of Aussie stars singing Christmas carols, and everyone out in the park for a good picnic.

Soooo many people!!
Hillsong Christmas Spectacular!
December 21, 2008
Last Sunday, we had a fantastic day of fun at church! As the festive season approaches, the church has organized a bunch of activities to get everyone into the festive spirit!
After regular church service, there was a street party (woohoo!) and an awesome Christmas Spectacular musical! Thad and I bought our tickets weeks in advance (they are now sold out!) but unfortunately, he had to work the weekend
Boo. Well, I contemplated not going as well, but that would mean sitting at home watching tv, and I think I would much prefer watching the Spectacular with a whole bunch of happy people! We managed to sell our ticket, coincidentally to someone who was missing one ticket (she already had two, and needed just one more)! How great is that?!
Anyway, the street festival was so fun! It was a beautiful VERY sunny day, what summer is all about I suppose!

Kura Japanese Dining
December 16, 2008
I always hear of churchgoing families having their own little Sunday ‘rituals’. Either grabbing breakfast bright and early before service starts, or going to a favourite cafe after church to grab lunch, or simply hanging out after with friends at church. I like the idea, and always hoped that one day my family can have one of our own.
Well there’s just Thad and me for now, but I think we’ve derived our own Sunday ritual! In winter, it used to be that after we were dropped off by the courtesy bus at Central Station, we would head over to Pasteur Vietnamese restaurant for a steaming bowl of pho. Then we get knocked-out by the MSG and sleep away the entire Sunday. Hehe.
Now that it’s summer, and having a bowl of pho doesn’t seem particularly appealing in the sweltering heat, we have a newfound Sunday lunch hideaway!

So is it hot, or cold?

How am I supposed to dress for this kind of weather?!
Good Living Grower’s Market Dec 08
December 9, 2008
The last Good Living Growers’ Market of 2008! There are lots of produce markets throughout Sydney, but the Pyrmont one has been my fave (so far). Held on the first Saturday of each month, it’s really something to look forward to. Plus, it’s so close to home! Hehe.
